Nepenthes ampullaria | speckled 750 m | 6 - 10 cm

A lightly speckled form of the species from about 750m altitude in Sulawesi. This is the first release of this species we have made from a source other thannear sea level and it may be expected to tolerate cooler growing conditions than other varieties
This classic swamp-dwelling species is one of the few that will develop basal rosettes when larger, giving the appearance of a carpet of pitchers with few or no leaves. It grows easily in acidic media with high temperatures and humidity.

This item originates from about 750 m altitude and therefore tolerates higher temperatures than other forms of the species commonly in cultivation. Hence, we class it as an ‘intermediate’ grower. When juvenile, the pitchers are a pure lime green with attractive red-tinted leaves as the photos show. When mature, the pitchers develop a light red speckling but the peristomes remain a pure lime-green, as a striking contrast to the red leaves.

History: First introduced on our old PDF pricelist in Feb 2012, it then became unavailable from Sept 2019 until it was introduced to our online shop in May 2021.
