Nepenthes ampullaria | Bronze Nabire | 10 - 15 cm

This swamp-dwelling species is one of the few that will develop basal rosettes when larger giving the appearance of a carpet of pitchers with no leaves. Loves high temperatures and humidity. Pitchers are globose and vary enormously in colouration.

History: First introduced on our old PDF pricelist in June 2009, after we closed our lowland nurseries in 2012 it became unavailable for five years. Between Nov and Dec 2017 a few batches were offered on the wholesale auctions. It was then unavailable again as nursery-grown plants for two years, until introduced to our online shop in 2019. It last went out of stock in May 2021 and returned for Feb 2022.

Description: This form of the species from Nabire in Papua, has a red speckled pitcher body with a distinctive bronze tint to the peristome, as can be seen in these photos.
